England and Manchester City's star defender Kyle Walker faces a race to be fit for the World Cup after he has undergone surgery on a groin injury he suffered in the Manchester derby on Sunday.

Walker sustained the injury in the first half of City's 6-3 victory against Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium. It could prove to be a huge blow for City and England with Walker reportedly now facing a race to be fit for the World Cup in November.

Due to his surgery he missed City's 5-0 Champions League victory over FC Copenhagen on Wednesday.

Kyle Walker has earned 70 caps and was a key member of team England that reached the Euro 2020 final and 2018 World Cup semi-finals.
