The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have officially announced to increase the funding by £3.5m for professional women's domestic cricket. The funding will run until the end of 2024.

From November 1, the number of professional players funded by the ECB will go up to seven players per region, with a further three players per region receiving professional deals from February 1, 2023.

Earlier in 2020 there were only 40 ECB-funded professional women's domestic cricketers while in 2021 the number has increased to 48.

According to ECB, the increment in funding will boost the average domestic salary to £25,000 and will help to raise the total number of female professional players close to 100.
