Brighton & Hove Albion's £20million record signing Enock Mwepu has been forced to retire from his football career at the age of 24 after being diagnosed with a hereditary heart condition.

The Premier League club reported that if he isn't stopped now then the condition can worsen over time. Later there may be chances of extremely high risk of suffering a potentially fatal cardiac event.

Mwepu joined Brighton from RB Salzburg last summer and made 27 appearances for the club, scoring three goals and providing seven assists. He has played six times in the Premier League this season, with his last appearance coming in the side's 5-2 victory over Leicester City.
