Marnus Labuschagne equals Kohli’s rating
Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne, who is currently ranked as the World No. 1 amongst Test batters, has equaled Kohli’s rating on the all-time list of the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Test Batting rankings. After recently replacing English batter Joe Root, Labuschagne’s rating climbed even higher following his impressive performance in the Test Series against West Indies. After scoring 502 runs over two matches, which included 163 runs in the first innings of the second test, Labuschagne earned 937 points, equaling Kohli’s record. This means that only three Australian players have better ratings, which includes Donald Bradman, who had 961 points, Steve Smith, who had 947 points and Ricky Ponting, who had 942 points. Fellow Australian batter Travis Head has also witnessed an improvement in his ratings following the series against West Indies, where he scored a century, and is currently ranked as the 6th best batter, with a career high of 774 points.
Other players to climb up the rankings this week include English players, who recently defeated Pakistan. Harry Brook who won scored a century in the second innings and won the Player of the Match in Multan, rose 15 places in the rankings to claim the 55th spot. Pacer James Anderson also made impressive gains in the Test bowler rankings and climbed to the second spot, while Ollie Robinson and Mark Wood rose to the 6th and 34th spots. Meanwhile, Kohli remains India’s top ranked batter, and currently at the 8th spot, and Ishan Kishan, who had an impressive performance in Chattogram has broken into the top 100 rankings, at the 37th spot.
