Valencia has been handed partial stadium closure for five matches for racist abuse of Vinicius Jr.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has declared officially that Valencia's south stand will be partially closed for five matches and the club fined 45,000 euros ($49,536) after the racist abuse suffered by Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr in Sunday's La Liga game.

The Brazilian winger, 22, was subjected to racist chants from the home fans at the Mestalla Stadium. He was also sent off in the dying embers of the match by referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea.

Valencia have ten working days to file an appeal to the appeals committee.

There have also been suggestions that Vinicius Jr could have his red card rescinded, however, these are yet to be confirmed.

LaLiga players and officials called for racism to be tackled in Spain as the competition resumed in the wake of the latest Vinicius Jr incident.
