Rising Star: Sumit Nagal Surges 23 Places, Enters ATP Top 100 Singles Rankings.

On Monday, India's standout singles player, Sumit Nagal, achieved a significant milestone by climbing an impressive 23 spots in the ATP singles rankings. This remarkable ascent propelled him into the prestigious top-100 for the very first time in his career.

Following his victory at the Chennai Open challenger event last Sunday, Nagal's ranking soared to 98th place in the most recent singles rankings.

These rankings are currently dominated by Serbian tennis sensation Novak Djokovic.

Just last month, Nagal made history as the first Indian player in 35 years to defeat a seeded opponent at a Grand Slam.

His remarkable victory came against then world no.27, Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan, in the opening round. Although he couldn't advance past the second round, where he faced China's Juncheng Shang, his achievement was remarkable.

Notably, Nagal's rise to the top-100 marks a significant moment, as he is the first Indian player to achieve this since left-handed Prajnesh Gunneswaran accomplished the feat back in 2019.
