Formula E has sacked the racing commentator Jack Nicholls for 'inappropriate behavior.'

Formula E has officially announced the termination of BBC Formula 1 commentator Jack Nicholls after allegations of inappropriate behavior towards female staff members.

It had already been confirmed that he would not be working at the Jakarta ePrix in Round 11 of the Championship this coming weekend, but initially, neither the broadcaster nor Formula E had announced the reason why.

But now it has emerged his sacking followed an independent investigation following complaints by three women.

Among the three, one was a younger member of staff who was in a relationship with Nicholls, in breach of Formula E rules, while the other two complaints were made by witnesses rather than those affected.

It has already been announced that Ben Edwards will replace him for the final rounds of the season.

Nicholls had been the sport’s lead commentator since its inception in 2014, with his voice heard on a variety of different broadcasters, most recently Channel 4.

He works alongside Jolyon Palmer and Jennie Gow for 5 Live's coverage, though that is contracted outside of the BBC.

The BBC has declined to comment on Nicholls' future but has confirmed that he will not be part of their Spanish Grand Prix coverage this weekend.
