Callum Smith confirms to face light-heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev in Canada.
Posted 8 days agoWBC 175lb No 1 Callum Smith will travel to Quebec City in Canada to fight unified light-heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev for the WBC, IBF, and WBO championships on 19th August.
Unified light heavyweight titlist Beterbiev, a Russian-Canadian, owns a perfect record, at 19-0 with all wins coming by KO.
The Videotron Centre in Quebec will play host and those gathered will see if the No. 1 WBC contender Callum Smith can break the streak.
The native Russian is currently ranked No. 1 in ESPN's light heavyweight ranking and is eighth on ESPN's men's pound-for-pound list. Beterbiev is looking for his 20th knockout in as many professional fights.
The bout against Smith (29-1, 21 KOs) marks Beterbiev's first title defense in Canada since 2021 when he knocked out Marcus Browne in Montreal to retain the IBF and WBC belts.
